My wife and I have been to Bay Ridge CityMD twice each, and it’s been a 50/50 experience. On one hand, it’s a well-organized facility with quick appointments and professional staff. However, our recent experience with one specific doctor was incredibly jarring. I saw Kenneth Testa, DO, and the interaction was unprofessional from the start. He didn't introduce himself, and after a brief exam, he dismissively diagnosed me with a common cold. When I respectfully mentioned that identical symptoms two months ago were treated with a specific medication that worked well, he became combative. He told me, "If you don't like what I prescribe, you should find another urgent care," and stated he wouldn't "have a discussion" while other patients were waiting. I ended the conversation to de-escalate. As I left, I saw him having lunch behind the counter and, giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was just "hangry," I apologized and thanked him for his work. He then informed me he had already changed the prescription to what I asked for anyway. I left the building literally shaking from the interaction. My wife had a similarly poor experience previously with a doctor we suspect was the same person. Practical advice: Call ahead before you schedule an appointment to check which provider is on duty. The facility is great, but the bedside manner of this specific provider was unacceptable.
