Theraplay Nyc

All of the therapists at Theraplay are top notch. My daughter has been at PT and OT at Theraplay for two and a half years and they are so committed to her development and progress. My son also recently started going for PT. The Theraplay staff is warm and welcoming and really meets each child where he/she is. I am so grateful to have the Theraplay team in our lives as they have been monumental in terms of the gains our daughter has made over the past couple of years! I highly recommend Kim and the entire team at Theraplay- you really can't go wrong with any of the talented therapists there! They are also wonderful at communicating with parents and outside team/therapists/teachers as well!

I called theraplay with an interest in the alternative preschool program and set up a playdate for my son. The playdate went well and everyone was pleasant my son did enjoy himself. This was in October and I informed them that I wanted my son to start the program in January. They asked if I could leave a deposit for $500 to "hold a spot" for my son although no specific days were decided on yet. She sent me an invoice and I paid the $500 without signing any contracts or anything. They told me the $500 is not included in the monthly tuition and is a separate fee. On December 6th I emailed saying that my son would not be attending because the driver that I had worked out to bring him from Brooklyn to theraplay wasn't going to be able to bring him anymore and the distance was a real issue. I sent an email on December 10th asking about the $500 deposit and if it was non refundable because again no paper work was signed stating that it was and no physical spots were actually being held because no dates were decided on. I had been receiving consistent emails until I sent that one and never got a response. Fast forward to January 21st I called asking about the money and they said they would email me back that same day shortly after the call. The day ended and no email nor call back. I called the next day again they said they'd call back and no response again. Called for a third day and they tried to say the same thing and I told them they said that for two days straight already so they finally sent me back an email claiming that they did respond. As I said the emails have been consistent until I mentioned the money and then got an email a month and a week's time later after calling for 3 days straight. They told me the money was non refundable even though they never actually held any spots for my son because it was NEVER decided on. And there were no paperwork or contracts of any sort signed regarding the money. I feel like they put on a show for people but I feel scammed by them for not getting my money back. Money that they got for doing absolutely nothing. Money I could have put right back towards therapy for my son. Beware of these scam artists. Make sure you bring up signing proper paperwork for every business transaction. They're not professional at all.
