I can only speak for myself but as a women of color with high anxiety I have to say I was treated with so much care and attention. I gave birth in December to my beautiful daughter who I named after my midwife that’s how amazing of a job she did. She answered my questions and listened to my concerns I was never “just a number”. All my appointments I went to I was always relaxed and my blood pressures were always beautiful (2 prior pregnancy with preeclampsia and hypertension c-section). I can’t speak for the whole hospital but my midwives at Jacobi cared! If you have any of these midwives just know you will be taken care of and heard (Melissa, Clairbel). My delivery also went well again anxiety kicked in because this was my 3rd C-section but from nurses to the anesthesiologist to the doctors fantastic they talked with me to keep me comfortable during the surgery and aftercare was nice all in all 5/5 stars

They almost killed my son during induced labor if I hadn’t intervened personally right as the nurse attempted to increase the Pitocin for the second time without my consent or communication. The first time resulting in my baby’s failure of movement. After failed induction & a c-section, they hauled my son off without letting myself or his father see or touch him. They kept our son from us for 5 hours after surgery, all the while I’m begging to see him. The excuse they have for keeping him “in the nursery,” was that I needed to stop shaking from the epidural. Meanwhile they refused to let the father into the nursery, nor let him hold his son instead. Needless to say we were infuriated, even after giving the benefit of the doubt to my condescending and rude assigned labor nurse. Trash hospital, trash service. They were rough with postpartum care towards both my son and I. Shame on you, Jacobi.
