Ladies: DO NOT go to this location alone. I have a feeling if my husband had been present I would have received better care-but I doubt it. The nurse called me back and ran my vitals. I had a fever of 101, sore throat, sinus pressure, swollen lump nodes, swollen/red gums, and an ear ache. I told her I suspected strep because I could see a white blister on my tonsil so we did the rapid strep. That test was neg. That is when the “doctor” came in, didn’t introduce himself, had me open my mouth and look at my throat for maybe 2 seconds. He says “strep is negative. Just take Motrin.” He left the room. The nurse came back and I had to ask her if we could test for Covid and flu because I’ve had fever the past 3 days and I paid out of pocket for the visit because I have a gap in coverage until I get new insurance next month-this will be important later. The flu/Covid test came back negative. Not surprising though because the nurse barely put the swap in my nose. The doctor comes back and like “it’s neg. What do you want me to do.” I start naming off illnesses trying to see if anything is possible and he dismisses it and is like “no it can’t be that.” And at this point I’m so perplexed as to why he’s not trying to figure out what’s wrong with me or offer solutions. At this point I tell both the nurse and him that he didn’t examine me. He shone a light in my mouth for 2 seconds. Never palpated my lymph nodes, checked my ears, my nose, my breathing or listened to my heart. And even after this he still didn’t do anything of these things. I also asked him if the nurse had informed him I was immunocompromised. I’ve been battling Multiple Sclerosis for over 10 years and have been on drugs that purposefully wipe out my immune system to fight the disease so when I do get sick I usually can’t get over it on my own like a healthy person. I told him about the infusion I get every 6 months that wipes my immune system and his response was “And who pays for that?” He made that comment because I was hesitant to have the strep test sent out over night because it goes to an outside lab and is charged separately. I’m so traumatized by our healthcare system that when I’ve been on insurance and had labs sent to an outside lab that I once received a bill back for over $900. It’s terrible that healthcare is like “you need this, but we can’t tell you your cost until afterwards.” I left the office in tears. Felt belittled, dismissed, and still sick. The doctors diagnosis was “That sucks. Take Motrin.” Don’t waste your time or money here.
