Ira Stephen Blaufarb, M.D.

I saw Dr Ira Blaufarb for a routine pre-surgical clearance in advance of spinal operations at Mount Sinai West. Out of the doctor's very thorough check-up he found I have a hereditary heart ailment Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) - a heart muscle thickening. Dr Blaufarb explained the condition to me thoroughly and even let me record what he was saying, as I was surprised, and perhaps not taking all of the new information in. I am forever grateful to Dr Blaufarb of Mount Sinai and highly recommend him as a cardiologist. Since then I have also been treated by a specialist in HCM, Dr Daniele Massera, NYU. He said I may have had HCM all my life an not been aware. This is a pretty lucky story for me.

I was very impressed at how Dr Blaufarb really took the time to explain the pros and cons of treatment decisions for care. He is very competent, patient, professional, knowledgeable, and open to questions, which is deeply appreciated when patients are unsure and anxious.

The nurses and technicians (Felix, Shawn and George) were very attentive, smart, patient, efficient. 5 stars!. Answered all my questions. I had very little interaction with the doctor. He was present for my stress test and asked a couple of questions (which were also included in my intake forms like: do I have kidney disease or high blood pressure.) Since I was dismissed before having a new patient meeting, I am unable to say very much about the doc. He seemed like a very nice person. The office was extremely busy that day.

Dr. Blaufarb takes the time to listen and explain the plan of care. It’s important to understand what’s going on with me and he makes sure you have a good understanding . He is always attentive and responds with respect and general concern. He is a cardiologist who definitely knows the matters of the heart.

Great caring experienced doctor and staff. Clear cut expertise and response. Highest recommendation. The practice is very well organized and very professional. It is also very nice and personal.
