I ended up in Mt. Sinai Queens hospital ER with a fractured knee cap in mid Jan, 2026. That same afternoon, Dr. Johnstone was available to see me and advised me clearly of options and risks. He took his time with me and was very reassuring. We scheduled surgery two days later and I decided to go with him. So far, so good. No problems whatsoever! I saw him for a post op visit this past week and got the staples out. His PA ,Julio, did an amazing job removing the staples (it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!) and again, Dr. Johnstone was extremely patient with me and my husband and answered all my questions - he really takes him time. I would highly recommend him.

The first time I was there he had xrays done and it went well, second time I visited for a separate injury. His service felt rushed. I hoped to get something more than another referral done but it truly felt like he just wanted to get to the next patient. I need a doctor who cares to take care of the issue right away. Some type of imaging or something to put one at ease. A month old build up of fluid under the knee wont “go away eventually” especially when pain is increasing instead of decreasing. They do see you pretty fast, sucks they get you out fast too.

Hello to all. Dr. Stephen Johnstone did surgery on my (ACL) Right knee , and I feel that he is an excellent Dr. and surgeon. I am thrilled with hospitals nurses care during Pandemic. My experience was amazing. I felt that all the staff was very interested in my physical and mental comfort. Everything was well explained. I never was made to feel that caring for me was a burden. I had no reluctance to ask for what I needed. On top of that my surgery is great so far! I would recommend Mount Sinai Hospital and Dr. Stephen Johnston and his team to anyone who needs this procedure.”
