Dr. Caraballo came recommended by another doctor, and I took my child to see him. Initially, I got a good feeling about him, but I found him a tad distracted. As we continued with sessions, I felt that he didn't take enough time to understand my child and didn't really have the emotionally compassionate side to show empathy and care - he felt cold and distracted. In virtual visits too he seemed distracted, and didn't use all the time which, if you are going to be charging $$$$, I expect you to use the entire time. He recommended a couple of behavioral psychologists to see which we tried to but didn't go out of his way to find someone since nobody that he recommended was available, and he didn't offer alternatives. He recommended medicines and changes, but didn't take enough time to understand the impact. My child's performance in school deteriorated since the medicine wasn't working, and when we discussed it he kept contradicting himself and didn't give us a clear path forward. In the end, I found him disconnected, a bit dismissive and rude, and just not compassionate and understanding enough, and we decided to part ways. For someone who charges so much, I was quite surprised to have this experience.

Dr. Caraballo is one of the first therapists to let me lead the treatment with what I think works best for me than went from there. I am not very trusting of people so I don't like to share, accepting this Dr. Caraballo allowed me to move at my own pace getting to know each other. the first couple sessions I would just sit in silence and he would do the same Then because I started meeting him during the pandemic we would play uno online until I warmed up to him. Through all this he has never forced me or pushed me past where I'm comfortable talking while still keeping honest and without sugarcoating the truth.
