Jared Suresky
Dr. Barberio was the on-call OB when my wife went into labor, and our experience with her was deeply disappointing. During the pushing stage, which lasted about three hours, she checked on my wife’s progress but offered very little guidance or support to help move toward a vaginal delivery. She then recommended a C-section, even though our understanding at the time was that the baby was not in distress. What followed was traumatic. After the C-section, we learnt that my wife was having significant internal bleeding from the surgery and had lost a large amount of blood into her abdomen, which led to serious complications. Eight months postpartum, she is still dealing with pain and the lasting effects of what happened. What was especially upsetting was the lack of follow-up. During our 10-day hospital stay, Dr. Barberio did not check in with us until we specifically asked to speak with her. We came away feeling unsupported, unheard, and deeply troubled by both the outcome and the lack of communication afterward.
