Dr. Adams did open heart surgery (double by-pass and heart valve replacement) on my father back in 1997 in Boston. My Dad was 76 at the time. Despite less-than-ideal self-care before and after his surgery, he lived another 14 years before passing away at 90. Dr. Adams was fantastic and I will always be grateful for his wonderful care of my Dad.

Dr. Adams is not only a brilliant practitioner, he is also an approachable, and very "down to earth" human being. There is a reason why people come from the world over to place their lives in Dr. Adams' hands. As a response to a reviewer who questioned whether Dr. Adams actually does the surgery, let me tell you: He does the surgery. While his associate may assist, it is Dr. Adams who performs the actual heart surgery. He does not relegate or delegate to anyone else. When you come to Dr. Adams for heart surgery, you get the attention and expertise of this most accomplished , brilliant and compassionate individual. He DOES NOT delegate out your surgery. In conclusion, I will reiterate the following: Dr. Adams is not only preeminent in the field of cardiac surgery, he is also preeminent in the fields of compassion and approachability.

Doctor Adams performed what was described as an extremely low risk mitral valve repair surgery on my dad in 2021. He awoke after surgery and complained to the doctors about chest pain which was dismissed and the following morning he went into cardiac arrest. They performed another emergency surgery and got his heart beating. He remained alive (via life support) but declined slowly and died after 12 days. We were told that there could have been a stitch that didn’t hold causing a slow blood leak that eventually burst. Doctor Adams made us feel every confident that he would pull through but in hindsight it felt like we were misled.
