Dr. Addo is amazing! He prepared me very well for hernia surgery during an office visit telling me exactly what to expect. He saw me before surgery at the hospital reassuring me and had me back to the office for a post surgery check up. He’s incredibly thorough and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him!

I gave the rating as of now, where I stand with the hernia specialist team. I have had multiple doctors, over the years, diagnose that there were signs of hernias present both with Imaging and examining post operation. If the doctor took the time, studies me as his patient, the doctor would have known where and how to look for a hernia. I am not a doctor, however I have been evaluated for close to a decade after my operation and before the operation in regards to my hernias and aware about certain common questions and procedures. I feel like the doctor that saw me, could have done a more thorough job being a hernia specialist in regards to looking at my notes on their portal, my imaging and all of the past appointments notes of why I was at his office, he could have done a better evaluation. Im not so sure he had a chance to take a look or ask about my occupation. He ordered imaging and sent me on my way. I have been around long enough to know that hernias can have a 50 50 chance of showing up on imaging regardless of what kind of hernia you have. My surgery was based on a manual evaluation. Not imaging. I felt as if the doctor assumed every hernia is the same and still naive in his practice as an upcoming specialist and did not feel as if I was being examined but being belittled and looped around an actual examination that doctors who care about making money instead of assisting their patients and caring as well as a doctor is supposed to. His arrogance and not paying attention to detail, started to make me discouraged to trust this doctor and question my safety in pursuance with care from columbias hernia specialist team's.might have been the reason the ct was denied due to lack of an examination/information accumalates which could have been avoided. I do hope that I am wrong that all the doctors practice the same, i was really hoping that the care was going to be the best since i did and still do, think highly of most columbia doctors that I have seen in the past.

Informative, professional and good listener. Took my concerns seriously and upon asking me about them he took the time to describe what I was feeling and the possible medical reasons it was occurring. Also, didn’t take for granted my concerns ensuring that all my questions were answered with further testing to ensure that his prognosis was correct. Thank you.

He asked about my concerns and how can he help, he listen and let me know what needs to be done & explain what have to be done and what to expect from it. His voice was calm and clear. Very professional which calmed my nerves because it was my first visit there

Alex Addo, MD, performed robotic bilateral inguinal hernia repair surgery on May 19, 2026. The procedure was fully successful. He and his team were considerate, professional, and thorough in pre-op disclosures, guidance, and the execution and review of necessary tests. Post-op care and treatment has been responsive and supportive. I feel fortunate to have benefited from Dr. Addo’s diagnostic insight and surgical expertise. On the day of the operation the anesthesiologists and attending nurses were also topnotch. - Peter Myette
