It's been three months since Dr. Deshmukh replaced my left knee, and the surgery was a complete success. I am now walking comfortably and without pain. I would recommend Dr. Deshmukh to my friends and family. He was very caring, and he explained in detail what to expect during our pre-op consultation, even mentioning, "You will wish you never had this surgery during your first week of recovery."

Ajit Deshmukh, M.D. is, without question, the finest physician I have ever encountered — and after a lifetime of navigating the healthcare system, that is not a statement I make lightly. My assessment is grounded in 14 years of care under his guidance, a relationship that recently reached its pinnacle with a total knee replacement and a total hip replacement performed within the same three-month period. The fact that I willingly — even eagerly — entrusted him with two major surgical procedures in a single quarter tells you everything you need to know about the depth of confidence and trust he inspires. From the very first interaction, the experience is exceptional. Scheduling is seamless, and his staff — every single one of them — reflects the same standard of excellence that defines Dr. Deshmukh himself. A physician's team is a direct extension of his values, and in this practice, that standard is unmistakable. But what truly and irrevocably sets Dr. Deshmukh apart is the extraordinary combination of his clinical mastery and his interpersonal brilliance. In every encounter across our 14-year relationship, he has been the gold standard of patient engagement — thoughtful, precise, and genuinely present. He addresses not only the technical complexities of any procedure, but also the very human anxieties that accompany serious medical decisions. He listens with intention, responds with specificity, and always follows through with action. I never once felt rushed. I never once felt dismissed. I walked into both operating rooms with absolute faith in the man holding the scalpel. The surgical outcomes have been nothing short of outstanding. Complications were minimal, and when an unexpected issue surfaced during one procedure — unrelated to the primary joint — Dr. Deshmukh addressed it with the calm precision and clinical dexterity that only comes from a surgeon operating at the very top of his field. Every follow-up visit has been equally impressive — attentive, thorough, and marked by immediate adjustments whenever my recovery called for them. His compassion and empathy are not performative; they are deeply genuine, and they radiate throughout his entire care team. What ultimately defines Dr. Deshmukh is something that cannot be taught in any medical school: the rare ability to make a patient feel completely safe, completely heard, and completely confident — even in the face of complex, life-altering procedures. He is not merely a skilled surgeon. He is an exceptional human being who has chosen one of the most demanding professions there is, and he honors that choice every single day. I have referred him to friends and family without hesitation and will continue to do so. If you are facing any orthopedic challenge — whether a routine concern or a major surgical intervention — you are extraordinarily fortunate if Dr. Deshmukh is your surgeon. He has my absolute confidence, my deepest gratitude, and my highest possible recommendation.

Dr. Deshmukh did my hip replacement surgery several months ago & it went very well. I had very bad arthritis & could barely walk & needed a cane. I have some medical & physical issues which made my surgery more difficult - but Dr. Deshmukh meticulously planned for these & the surgery went smoothly & my recovery has gone very well. I'm able to walk without a cane & without pain. His follow-up has been just as thorough, making sure my recovery continues to progress. This was my first surgery - I was really scared - but Dr. Deshmukh patiently answered all my many questions, paid attention to my concerns, & told me in detail about what the surgery would involve & what he would do. Throughout this whole process, he replied quickly to my emails & calls when I had questions & even called me a few days before the surgery to reassure me. The rest of his team also was great. I highly recommend him!

Dr Deshmukh literally gave me back my life. I had a knee replacement in 2023 with ANOTHER DR NOT NYU. 1st surgery was done in May 2023 4 weeks later It was infected which led to surgery number 2 in July 2023. 5 weeks later I needed a second manipulation done. 3 surgeries in less than 8 weeks. After all of that my knee still was not straight I started having hip and back pain on the opposite side. I was walking very lopsided and in pain. The original surgeon was very honest with me and told me he didn't know what what else he could. I so was frustrated but patient with my knee. I got a second opinion in May 2024 which led me to Dr Deshmukh. I did not want to have a 4th surgery so I return to work to see if I could handle the pain needless to say I lasted 5 weeks with calling out at least once a week smh. I had the consult with Dr D and he was very honest with me. He told me he couldn't guarantee me that surgery would work but it was up to me.I told him while in tears I am 43 years old what kind of life will I have if I can work to take of myself so I have to try and we did. Surgery was in November 2024. I purposely waited to do the review so time could pass and I could give a true review. Surgery and my stay at nyu orthopedic hospital in the city was amazing. Staff we kind and very helpful to my husband and I for the 2days we were there. I recommend Dr Deshmuk 1000 over. Thank You Dr D I greatly appreciate everything you have done for me.
