This is a great place for therapy if you don't really need therapy, and therefore it doesn't matter if the care you receive is totally substandard. I remember when I tried their "Grief Group" - a woman in the group said she was there to deal with the loss of her JOB. No, I'm not kidding.
Look, I understand that suffering and loss are relative things. But when you join a Grief Group, I think you have a right to expect that other members will be going through similar experiences. Meaning, the death of a loved one. Not the loss of a job. What's next? "Oh, I lost an earring yesterday! Joining the Grief Group to help get through this difficult time."
There should be standards for what constitutes grief/loss, or else group members cannot relate to one another, and the experiences of those trying to navigate death are trivialized.
People like her might do OK with this place. But if you're dealing with anything heavy, and especially if you require meds, Wholeview is worse than useless: they're dangerous. They can't help with trauma, and they have no clue what to do about psychiatric issues, especially not complex, "dual diagnosis" issues.
Your therapist will constantly cancel appts, and you will get a new one approximately every 6 months. There is no continuity of care. You just get passed around to different therapists. You will get real sick and tired of explaining your entire life story to a new therapist every 6 months or so.
And to be clear, these are just licensed clinical therapists. Despite what another reviewer said, I never saw an actual psychologist. Neither in individual therapy, nor leading groups.
And if you need meds, you will not get to see a psychiatrist. Not once, not ever. You'll be treated solely by an angry, impatient, apathetic nurse who I'll call..."Mameron."
They will lie to you and tell you "Mameron" is a doctor. He's not. He's a nurse. A nurse who does nothing to help for months when new medication sends you spiraling into a mental health crisis. He just can't be bothered.
Did you know that if a patient takes Suboxone, you're required by law to speak to them for at least 15 minutes before refilling it? Because "Mameron" doesn't know that, or perhaps he simply doesn't care. Our appts were usually about 5 - 7 minutes long. Never longer than 10 minutes at most. He broke the law every single month.
He actually mismanaged my meds so badly that I ended up hospitalized. While I was in the hospital, Wholeview dropped me as their patient without my informed consent (I was under sedation and did not understand what I was agreeing to), leaving me with no mental healthcare at all.
I begged to be taken back as their patient. In return, I got a form letter stating that I had been officially discharged as their patient. I'm sorry, but it's evil - just evil - to refuse to adequately manage somebody's meds, and then dump them as your patient when you realize how badly you screwed up. It's especially cruel when the patient begs you (literally BEGS you) to keep treating them, because without you, they have nothing.
Again, if your worst problem in life is that you got laid off, this place might be OK. But if you have any real issues, and especially if you require medication management, this place is dangerous. I'd make a formal complaint to the Board of Medicine if I thought it'd do any good.
At first I couldn't believe all the 5-star reviews. I even wondered if I had stumbled upon the Maps page for the wrong Wholeview, as reviews describe "my first time coming in" and how they are located in NYC, when in fact, 1) everything is done entirely over Zoom, and 2) all of my therapists (and again, that's THERAPISTS, not psychologists) said they were in Boston.
However, the phone number is the same. Drawing inference from other reviewers, I've concluded that I must have been using Wholeview Direct, which I guess is a different branch of Wholeview that is based in Boston and conducted entirely over Zoom. Not sure how or why they're different, or why the care offered by Wholeview Direct is so thoroughly substandard.
