So I’m using my Aunts phone and her email. As my phone is dead and it was a crucial must to post this.
As a person in the medical profession. I always advise to speaking up and being an advocate for yourself. I went to Downstate Hospital due to cough, fatigue and chest tightness. I was seen by Dr Raghavan, Ranjita who stated she was the attending very very rude, nonchalant and unprofessional. When I addressed my concerns and stated I wasn’t well, she stated I came off as an individual with attitude ( yet I stressed I was not well). When I addressed my well-being on my medical management( as most doctors value patients input) , I was brushed off( due to having multiple heath issues after Covid) Dr. Raghavan, Ranjita refused to take my health concerns seriously… brushing it off as a different issue and very combative. When I stressed that your blood changes everyday, symptoms change everyday, sicknesses change everyday. I was told by doctor Raghavan, Ranjita “whatever as she walked away brushing off her hand” . I told her she was very unprofessional and she became very combative, rude and persistently unprofessional amongst staff and other patients as I said I Stressed I’m not well.
I communicated with the head nurse and expressed I did not want to be seen by the Attending Raghavan, Ranjita as she said I had a viral infection but I knew I didn’t.
I then saw a PA Artis, Yolanda was really respectful, down to earth and you can tell whether she was just trying to rush me out , she definitely loved her job to take the time to address my concerns, evaluate me and also mainly analyze me( as I do this all day at work). She gave me basic over the counter medications and steroids.
I went home called my pulmonary doctor from NYU( which I should have went there, but I wasn’t in the area ) the pulmonologist was very happy I went in, as She said due to my severe long covid that left me with severe heat induced asthma. I was having a “silent asthma attack “ she said she was Happy PA Aritis, Yolanda gave me the Decadron and did not brush me off and listened. My NYU doctor said take a treatment as they did not give me one as well. My pulmonologist at NYU said there were patients that have died as they didn’t’ show signs, that are expected with asthma. (I’m one of them. She said, I’m very unique in many cases, so that is why they always advise me to go to the ER.)
I also called my cardiologist( NYU) and he was also upset as he stated there are patients who are not symptomatic and he agreed with my pulmonologist as i am a patient who has to be monitored. He was apologized for the level of care at downstate hospital and they both gave a F/U. Both my Doctors are directors as well as my primary and one thing about them they never allowed their positions get to them in a sense forgetting to go above and beyond no matter what, and always remained professional.
As a person in the medical profession. I don’t care if a patient comes in 20 times back to back you assume it’s the first and you evaluate properly. Dr. R though she was a know it all, and you may know a lot but doctors do not know it all! They know what a patient tells them and evaluate from there! They know from experience and text book. When patients come in without the text book signs( then what) that is how people are miss diagnosed as the Dr. Raghavan, Ranjita fell short.
Either way, the cough , chest tightness and fatigue / weakness are all stable for the moment after the steroids provided in the ER and nebulizer treatment( at home).
This hospital should be closed down. They gossip more than work, they were more focused on staff members friends rather than the actual patients that sat hours in the ER.
Your stars show a lot, the reviews say a lot.
