The Institute For Family Health

For over 3 years I have been a patient of Dr. Issac and because of his knowledge I keep coming back here. The rest is like playing the lottery, it depends on who you get, this includes the reception staff and the nurses. I have only had a good experience with the nurses, the first visit, the rest I think should dedicate themselves to something else since they have no vocation to be a nurse. I have had those who, despite puncturing your veins 3 and 4 times, when you tell them please don't continue, they get angry and treat you with a bad attitude. On my last visit I had to get two injections in the buttocks which should have been applied with me lying down, this one was applied to me while I was standing, I thought maybe it is something new to stand to receive these injections but no, a doctor friend who is not familiar with this place told me that for injections in the buttocks the patient should always be lying down never standing up, I suppose the nurse did not want to get up from her chair to adjust the stretcher. Two days later I ended up with a fever and a lot of pain from my buttocks to my legs without being able to sit down and sleep with a lot of pain without finding a position that would let me sleep and all because of a nurse who wanted to skip one of the steps.

Let me start by saying the doctor I originally saw here, Dr. Hashemi, was wonderful. Truly, a gem in the chaos. But, when she went on parental leave, my care, my biopsy results (and apparently my existence) evaporated into the ether. Three weeks. Dozens of calls.Countless “we’ll send a message to the nurse” responses from a call center that might as well operate from Mars. Spoiler: no nurse ever called. No doctor followed up. Not a single MyChart message got a reply, even after their medical director, Dr. Ginger Gillespie, personally responded once rather cryptically, and then vanished faster than my faith in this place. In the end, I had to switch to a different practice entirely just to pry my own biopsy results out of Mount Sinai’s hands. That’s right. I had to flee the clinic just to find out what was going on in my own body. If you enjoy a healthcare maze, echoing voicemail loops, and the slow burn of being ignored while your health hangs in limbo, this is your spot. But, if you value communication, accountability, or basic human follow-up, do yourself a favor and sprint in the opposite direction. Because at the Institute of Family Health, the only thing “family” about it is how they ghost you like an emotionally unavailable relative.
