This review is to raise discernment for neurodivergent minds, considering working with anyone on the roster who does not mention it. I hope this review inspires you to make sure you get all the information you need about the EMDR process before committing to a paid session. I hope this review inspires a company that incorporates EMDR into its name to provide accessible information on the 8 phases of EMDR. I trusted Dr. Rebecca Hoffenberg's words, which expressed her confidence in being able to accommodate someone who is neurodivergent; however, after our second session, it was clear her confidence lacked experience or a foundational background to support it. I did not think it was fair after I committed to two sessions and needed more information about the 8 phases of EMDR. I was not okay with taking up any time in my 45-minute session to receive this information, which I believe should be clearly outlined or made available on their website. I was shocked by her resistance to tell me what the 8 phases of EMDR were or to address my question about when we would start the EMDR process. She spent more time deflecting my questions, as opposed to directing me to an article or website that clearly outlines the 8 phases of EMDR, as my incredible ADHD coach directed me to a website within 5 minutes of me sharing my frustration with Dr. Hoffenberg. In the 5 years I've worked with coaches, men’s groups, and therapists, I've never felt so gaslighted in my life by a professional therapist.
