I’ve been going to Weill Cornell pulmonary department for couple of years now. In that time all four doctors I had left the hospital system. Surprisingly that’s not my concern today. But it is a concern. My concern is that this department charged me an out of network deductible when they are clearly in my network. After getting my insurance on the phone with Weill Cornell billing it was clearly determined the nurse practitioner I was seeing was incorrectly listed as out of network causing a ripple effect with other services by other providers which were then not being accurately applied against my in network deductible. I called the business manager twice. She never called me back. I wrote to the nurse saying this has probably screwed up many other patients billing which should be investigated. A doctor wrote back and said they’d look into it. Nothing was done. My insurance insists I owe Cornell nothing because they adjusted /paid the bill. Despite this, I’ve been accosted with threatening letters demanding payment. Maybe the doctors that left knew something that we don’t. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this mismanaged department. I will continue to update this review until Cornell straightens out this situation. After speaking with my insurance yesterday they said the nurse practitioner is still listed as out of network which means other people are being charged out of network deductible which is money out of their pockets. No accountability here. UPDATE - called Weill Cornell “patient care” line. They said the “people assigned to your case are in a meeting” and would get back to me in 24 hours. That was three days ago. I guess patient care could CARE LESS. Will continue to update.
