No No
My partner went here, to continue his recovery after detox. It was not court ordered or mandatory, they self-admitted because they knew they needed help. Apparently there was a counselor on leave and there was another subbing in her place. The sub counselor was AMAZING and my partner was making great strides and we saw drastic improvements. HOWEVER, when the original counselor came back from leave everything changed. The woman was demeaning and took her time to make sure she shamed her clients instead of supporting them. So when my partner was unintentionally exposed while working outdoors in a public area to smoke from an illicit substance, where people were outside but right next to the worksite (my partner works in outdoor construction with the MTA) she made it a point to blame and shame my partner for the ENTIRE HOUR of their counseling session. Mind you this is AFTER my partner had spoken with the DIRECTOR of the program to specifically tell them about the incident so that there was transparency, and when they tested, they only tested with microgram trace amounts that would be consistent with an accidental exposure. The DIRECTOR was understanding of the incident. HOWEVER, after the demeaning, hurtful and downright abuse tone that the counselor took with my partner, she lead them into a depression and a relapse. She literally treated my partner the same way that his abusive mother had treated him during his childhood and brought back trauma from the death of his father all over again. I wrote this review not just to those interested in this org’s services but also for the org themselves to do a real look inward at how their staff are treating their clients and community members. I will be calling the office on Monday morning to fully understand why this happened and what corrective measures are going to be taken so that this does not happen to another family. EXTREMELY DISHEARTENING
