The Amethyst House was a terrible experience for me and other friends who left last year. They make promises of going on trips, to NYC shows, hosting activities, offering healthy foods and none of this is true or comes to fruition. The house is in essence a homeless shelter with 8 women staying there until they are kicked out, which happens often. The Program Director, June, has no experience in addiction counseling or running a sober house. The staff above her is no better. Tamara Levine, one of the directors is no better. They are young, inexperienced with inflated egos and bad attitudes. Their answers for any problems that arise in the house are to take people’s passes away for the weekend and community punishment. It’s an antiquated, lazy form of leadership. Look for a different house, this one will break your spirit. Carl is is over these clowns is no better. He runs three of the houses and keeps none of his promises.
