The NYU transplant team far exceeded my expectations. With so many transplant centers in New York, choosing NYU was one of the best decisions we could have made. Although the transplant evaluation process can feel overwhelming, with extensive testing and procedures required to be listed, the team does an outstanding job coordinating care every step of the way. My husband was successfully listed and received his kidney transplant at NYU, and the care he has received has been exceptional. As a living kidney donor, I can confidently say their donor team is absolutely outstanding. A special thank you to my angels, Michael and Joe, for always calming my nerves and guiding me through this journey. You will not regret placing your trust in the NYU transplant team.

I initially considered NYU Langone Transplant Center one of the best, but my experience was extremely disappointing. During the pre-evaluation process, they found some reason to deny my case and did not allow me to request a review or appeal the decision. They also did not consider it necessary to communicate the results of the tests or provide proper follow-up. A confirmatory or repeat test was not done, and overall communication felt very limited and uncoordinated. My attempts to reach the team were largely ignored, and the nurse only started responding after I involved the patient complaint department. The evaluation process itself was also very difficult. It lasted around six hours, during which approximately six different doctors came in and repeatedly asked the same questions many times, which was exhausting and confusing. At one of the tests, I also felt that a doctor began to put pressure on me, which made the experience even more stressful. In general, communication and coordination were poor, and there was very little transparency or patient support throughout the process. In a way, it may be better that this happened before a transplant, because I would not feel comfortable continuing with a clinic that communicates in this way. I hope the center improves its patient communication, transparency, and overall approach to care
