My review is twofold: my experience with Dr. King and my experience with the receptionists. I am very pleased with my consultation with Dr. King. She is knowledgeable, patient, and personable, with excellent bedside manner. As this was my first visit to an ENT in decades, I was surprised by how smoothly our conversation flowed. I was truly impressed by her bedside manner; she took the time to listen to my questions, was patient with follow-up questions, and provided excellent feedback. My partner, who accompanied me to the visit, was also impressed by Dr. King's welcoming demeanor when they asked a question. She made me feel valued, not just another patient. Our consultation was both brief (about 30 minutes) and comprehensive. Dr. King clearly outlined the next steps, which I appreciated. I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. King. While my experience with Dr. King was exceptional, my interactions with the receptionists were quite different. Upon checking in for my appointment, the receptionist requested a $200 deposit. I was confused, as Dr. King is in-network, and I have a $30 copay. When I inquired about the deposit, I was told it was a deposit that would be refunded. Despite my unease, I felt pressured to pay the deposit, as I was already at the doctor's office and this information had not been disclosed during the appointment scheduling. A few weeks after the appointment, I had not heard back from the reception staff. I took the initiative to follow up after receiving an email from my insurance company indicating that my $30 claim had been processed. When I called to inquire about the reimbursement, I was directed to the billing department, who simply stated that they would follow up. After waiting another day, I called the reception desk again. I explained that my insurance had already processed the claim and that it was their responsibility to refund the overpayment. At this point, the receptionist changed their story, claiming that refunds typically take 1-3 months. They then requested that I email them my insurance claim. The next day, I noticed the reimbursement for the balance on my credit card statement. While I am relieved to have received the refund, the entire reimbursement process took about four days. While this is not a major issue, I am disappointed that I had to take the initiative to follow up and resolve the issue, rather than the practice being proactive and transparent about their pricing and refund policies.
