Would you recommend Dr. Darren Sachs for general surgery and breast surgery? TL;DR Yes, absolutely, 100%. I was referred to Dr. Sachs' office because he is a breast cancer surgical specialist. Dr. Sachs had a breast ontology fellowship at the prestigious Fox Chase Cancer Center where they implemented a next-generation GPS-like surgical navigation system with real-time 3D rendering to locate a tumor more precisely than the old wire method. It was cool to be part of this innovative tech to treat my cancer! During the pre-surgery discussion, Dr. Sachs spun around my MRI of my chest in 3D and pointed out my grape cluster tumor(!) and possible sentinel node removal. He explained my concerns and options to reconstruct with plastic surgeon or without. I opted for without, and Dr. Sachs did an excellent aesthetic tissue rollup to cover up. Ladies, he is on your side and is sensitive to a womens' body image. And Dr. Sachs is a genuinely nice person with a super-positive personality that wants to help, and that is refreshing amongst the medical world. He is a flexible problem solver and reached out to his list of colleagues for me or did other favors in the background silently when I was in several medical bureaucracy jams and totally stressed out. He texted me back, "You are a VIP. I'll take care of it for you." On surgery day, Dr. Sachs and his associate, Dr. Manolas (the head surgeon for Lenox Hill's operating floor on Thursdays), worked together as a team all day on multiple general surgeries. My surgery at noon was right on time, even early. The peppy, fun and young surgical team, including the anesthesiologist Dr. Jackson, made me feel comfortable as the "cocktail" of anesthesia was administered. I fell asleep and woke up in the recovery room. An hour later, I went home. Now, a month later, the surgical wound is healing well. I'm not out of the woods yet, as there is a post-surgery phase with the radiation oncologist. However, I am feeling more creative and energetic, and dare say, happier. Thank you, Dr. Sachs!
