Damion Foster
I am writing this review because my interactions with three individuals at this facility were extremely concerning and ultimately distressing. I initially visited this office due to chest pain and an elevated resting heart rate (approximately 110 bpm while seated). Instead of feeling supported and properly evaluated, these interactions led to me being prescribed medications for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia—diagnoses that were neither explained thoroughly nor, in my opinion, appropriately connected to my presenting symptoms. At the time of my visit, my family and I were—and still are—going through an exceptionally stressful period. I made this clear during my appointments. Rather than exploring how acute stress can manifest physically, I felt dismissed and misunderstood. My first interaction was with a provider who spoke to me with no humility or compassion, which was especially troubling in a medical setting where people seek care because something is wrong. The second individual shared a personal story about her husband experiencing chest pain before his death—an alarming and unnecessary comment given my symptoms and state of anxiety at the time. Feeling unsettled, I went to an urgent care facility afterward, where I was treated with dignity and empathy. After checking my vitals, they recommended that I go to the emergency room—an approach that felt appropriate and patient-centered. Because this office is our primary care provider, my wife and I returned for a follow-up visit. During this appointment with the third individual, I attempted to explain the cause-and-effect relationship between our family circumstances and my lack of sleep and stress. I explained that I frequently wake at night to check on my family out of responsibility and concern. Instead of acknowledging this, the provider appeared to disengage. She then asked me, with a smirk and no signs of empathy, whether I was afraid of losing them. I responded honestly that it is my obligation as a husband and father to make sure they are okay. Overall, I left with the strong impression that I was misperceived, and that prescribing an expensive medication was prioritized over understanding my situation as a whole. I have now requested multiple times that this experience be acknowledged. I am sharing this review so that this does not happen to another concerned husband and father—especially one who is a minority—who seeks care during a moment of vulnerability and stress. Please do understand as I explained to 3 different individuals that I possess video and audio recordings of all that transpired here and is willing to go by means of any channel to make sure this doesn’t happen to another individual again. WHEN THE RAIN FALLS, IT DOESN’T JUST FALL ON ONE HOUSE. That’s not how "I feel" that’s what happened. If you want I can share the video with you before I send it to the appropriate channels. Let me know if you want to meet. You reached out to my wife already so you have our contact information.
