Dr Maletz has always been good to me, but the receptionists for his office need training. I spent 6 hours at Urgent Care on Saturday and the doctor called me back this morning to advise me to make an appointment with my PCP. So I called and waited almost 20 minutes to make an appointment. The person who answered did not listen to anything I said about being at Urgent Care and then put me on hold for 8 minutes. When he came back on the line, he said the soonest appointment I have is January 19 (two weeks out). I explained once again that I was at urgent care and was told I should be able to get a same day appointment. He says, “Oh you were at Urgent Care, hold on.” Another 10 minutes go by and he says how about January 13th? I again explain I was at Urgent Care and needed follow-up care…back to being on hold. When it was all said and done they wouldn’t even offer me a more immediate appointment with a different doctor. He was insistent that I take the appointment a week out. So I drove all the way to their office and spoke with the same receptionist in-person who then offered me a same-day appointment with Dr. Tatum. Why did I have to drive all the way here for this? I’m sick. I’m supposed to be resting, not driving around begging for an appointment. And why does it take 20 minutes on the phone to make an appointment? Are they understaffed or undertrained? Instead of waiting 3 hours to see Dr Tatum, I decided to go back to Urgent Care. Well, as I walked away the female receptionist looks over at the male receptionist who was helping me, makes a face, and starts laughing and mocking me. Apparently compassion no longer exists at this practice. Thankfully the Urgent Care helped me and even had me talk to a director who seemed very concerned with how I was treated today. Overall, the nurses and doctors at this office are great, but what happened today should not be tolerated in any professional setting, especially medical care. UPDATE: Just tried to make another appointment today. Was put on hold for 5 minutes while they verified my insurance which was done last weekend. Then they needed to check the doctor's schedule and I was put on hold for another 5 minutes. When the receptionist returned to the line, the phone strated crackling and I couldn't hear anything. Now I'm back on hold going through exactly the same process again. After i get my check-up im moving to another health group.
