Adrianne Charles
When I reflect on my time at Kind Mind , I can’t help but be grateful for the starting of breakthrough when it came to the deep truths about the trauma I experienced. The interns I had a chance to work with, were beyond patient & understanding. The knowledge I acquired irreplaceable. But unfortunately when it came to advocacy & support for accommodations with an underlying diagnosis’ which they could acknowledge the symptoms of it were becoming more and more apparent, they fell short. They had a bit of a cold “hands off” approach when it came to exploring my options outside of the practice,(due to the practice not having the appropriate resources to fill out the appropriate paperwork needed by institutions involved) . However the transparency of the practices inability to fulfill support only came after weeks of inconsistent communication by my interns supervisor (Dr.Monica Johnson) about the matter at hand. And I’ll note that even as accommodating as the practice was, it was often hard to keep up with being consistent with paying session pricing, even with the support of two practically full time jobs. The Admin department was fairly consistent with double charging me for sessions and were truly callous & inconsistent with communication when it came to transitions of care from intern to intern. Due to this, I was often left feeling mishandled and rushed when it came to big changes in my care at the practice. When I first entered the practice it was an important hope of mine to be seen by a therapist who was a black woman, for as a black woman it’s incredibly important for us to see representation and to be in actual reach of their support ( and essentially feel truly seen). Unfortunately as diverse as their lineup of interns were, they couldn’t deliver a financially accessible option. For those reasons I wouldn’t recommend coming to this practice to get true, consistent, accessible care.
