Kathryn F. Alcarez, D.O.

I have been a patient of Dr. Alcarez for over 20 years. Each visit with her is an opportunity to learn how to be healthier and more informed on best medical practices for lifelong choices. She and her staff are effortlessly capable and friendly and willing to follow up on insurance issues, doctor referrals, test results, and medication requests. It is wonderful to have such a caring and thoughtful physician in a world where doctors spend less time with you and barely know your name. She remembers you. She understands your goals and works with you like they are hers too. It is incredible to have such a brilliant doctor.

The overall service from front desk, nurse to the check up by Dr. Alcarez fell far below what I would consider a humane standard of care. When I raised concerns regarding various competency issues Dr. Alcarez avoided building understanding and tried to gaslight me by saying she was being intentional & conscientious. After looking at my labs she suggested that I get more tests including : HIV since I lived in India for 8 years. I found this an unessacarily alarmist and racist deduction. I don’t have HIV, Lyme disease or hepatitis. I looked at the printed out test results when I got home and realized that there was one result which was outside of the normal range which she didn’t address during the appointment. Followed up with a question about it and received no response. Ended up getting a much more comprehensive reading of my lab tests from AI. After 2 sessions I will not be pursuing a pathway towards health & wellness with this office. I booked twice because the ratings in Zocdoc were high 4.7 out of 5 but I believe the comments and ratings here are a more true reflection of what I experienced. She sent me for expensive tests which didn’t end up generating any clarity regarding my condition.
