CityMD Riverdale Urgent Care - Bronx

I want to start by saying that the nurses and front desk staff were professional, welcoming, and helpful. They are the only reason this facility gets one star. I brought my son to this urgent care because he had been experiencing chest pain for three days. He described the pain as worsening and spreading down the left side of his chest. The nurse took his vitals and documented all of his symptoms for the provider. She stepped out and said the doctor would be in shortly. When she returned, she explained that the doctor requested an EKG. She performed the EKG and again told us the doctor would be in soon to discuss the results. A few minutes later, a man entered the room and immediately said, “So you’re here because of chest discomfort? His EKG is normal, but let me listen to his heart.” He listened briefly and then stated that my son’s heart and breathing were normal. His only recommendation was to follow up with my son’s primary care doctor. I asked if that was it—no additional testing, no X-ray, nothing further. He replied that there wasn’t much else they could do and that my son was a healthy young man. If the pain continued, we should see his primary doctor. I thanked him, but I was extremely concerned. After he left, I asked the nurse for his name because he never introduced himself. She told me it was “Doctor Medina.” I asked for that information in writing, and she then asked if he had given us his assessment. He had not. She printed the assessment and EKG results for us. When I got home and reviewed the paperwork, I was shocked to learn that this individual was not a doctor at all, but a Physician Assistant. At no point did he identify himself as a PA. He barely asked my son any questions, did not examine the area where the pain was occurring, and treated a serious complaint in a very dismissive manner. To make matters worse, we were charged $100 for this visit. I felt completely disappointed, misled, and taken advantage of. Chest pain should never be handled so casually, especially in a child. I have never been to a clinic where a PA was presented as a doctor, and I find this incredibly misleading and unacceptable. I will never return to this facility. In the future, I will pay more and go straight to the emergency room. This experience felt like neglect and a complete waste of time and money.

The front desk receptionist, Nayeli, was extremely helpful and welcoming from the moment I arrived. She went out of her way to get a second opinion for me, which made all the difference. Thanks to her, I was able to get a painful embedded earring safely removed. Dr. Jones was also very helpful and professional, and the medical assistant, Marlenny, was kind and attentive throughout the visit. I truly appreciate the care and compassion from the entire team.
