We absolutely loved our experience with the Vanderbilt Birth Center. Our prenatal care here was fantastic, with highly knowledgeable and caring midwives at every appointment. The nurses are available around the clock via phone to support you with any needs and answer questions. They always took our concerns seriously and made us feel so cared for. I ended up going two weeks past my due date and unfortunately had to transfer to Vanderbilt hospital to be induced. However, the midwives did everything possible to help me go into labor, including coming in on the weekend to place a foley bulb. When I thought I was going into labor the next morning, they admitted me and allowed me to rest in their birth suites before my induction at the hospital even though I was only 2 cm dilated. The birth suites were beautiful and so peaceful. They were very upfront about pain for various procedures, something that many OBs fail to inform their patients about properly. After my c section they were extremely proactive about reaching out to check on me. When I was having extreme pain in the weeks post op, they spoke to me on the phone every day to ensure I was getting proper care. Could not recommend enough. We’ve technically only had one child here and it was before VUMC purchased it, back when it was Baby & Co. However, our fourth child was meant to be delivered here and would have if we hasn’t risked out and had to go to VUMC and the melrose midwives. That being said, our prenatal care was absolutely fantastic. We’re currently pregnant with our 5th and going here for treatment and hope to deliver in September. Everyone is super nice and very competent. They know their business. As far as comfort, the birth rooms are great and offer a lot of flexibility. There’s also a play area for kids in the waiting room and a coffee bar with Keurig for the parents!
