I've never written a negative review on one of these sites before, but I have to for MRI Associates of Queens. I have herniated cervical disks and have gone to this establishment many times for MRIs of the cervical spine. My doctors, all associated with NYU, have been urging me for years to go to NYU's Radiology Dept., but I've kept going to MRI Associates of Queens because I'd had the test in the past and they could do comparative studies. Last year, I had the cervical MRI again, but when the report was sent to my doctor, there was no comparison to the previous year's study. At my doctor's urging, I called MRI Associates of Queens to ask for a new report comparing my films to the past year's. The staff was polite as can be and said they'd do it, but when I called back a week later, it hadn't been done. This went on for a couple of months! Five times over the next two months I called, made the request, they politely said yes, and then didn't do it.
So, when the time came to repeat the study this year, I decided I would go to NYU instead, since the only reason I kept returning to MRI Associates of Queens was for a comparative study, and they didn't do one the previous year, despite numerous requests. I got the insurance approval and made the appointment, and was told by my doctor and the NYU radiology people to just get the old films from MRI Associates of Queens on a CD.
So, I called them and was told "no problem" by the very polite people on the phone. When I called back a week later, it hadn't been done. I was told the "system was down." Okay, I said. When will it be up? No one knew. It is two weeks later now, The system has not been fixed and as far as anyone knows, there's no one scheduled to come in and fix it. Despite several phone calls over the past couple of weeks and requests for the supervisor to return my call to talk to me about this, no one has called and the system is still down. My insurance approval is expiring. An MRI without a comparative study is useless. It will say I have herniated disks, but we know that already. The ability to properly assess what is going on in my body is being severely hampered by the inability and unwillingness of the management of MRI Associates of Queens to repair their system. This is unethical and contrary to the best medical interest of their patients. The unwillingness of management to even talk to me about this is unprofessional at best.
I'm still trying to get the disk from them. Heck, I'm still trying to get the manager to just talk to me about it. I will never return to this establishment again and I intend to report them (at my doctor's suggestion) to the NYS Dept. of Health and to my insurance company.
If a medical establishment can't afford to fix the computer system where they store the medical files, in how many other ways do they cut corners? Maintenance of the radiological Equipment? Quality of the Medical and Technical staff?
