Mahmoud Hassan Aly, M.D.

Dr. Aly is one of the finest, caring clinicians I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. He always attends to any needs you have as a patient. Ann, his office manager is very kind and always willing to help; she recently called me twice after a grueling back surgery to check on me. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this office, you’re in compassionate hands.

This practice is a joke. I called the Jersey office to make an appointment for an iron infusion at the Staten Island location since they never answer the phone and was pleasantly surprised when the receptionist said they had an opening the next day. Only when I went for my appointment I was informed it was actually for the next day. I don’t know which office is worse - NJ seemed rather incompetent while SI never answered the phone. The kicker was when I showed up for my appointment in the Hazlet office to find it locked up and closed. Apparently they moved to a new location and failed to let me know - or anyone since I was informed by an employee working on billing that I was the 8th person that day to show up for an appointment. I drove over an hour to this appointment only to be stood up by the doctor. I gave them a week to call me but no one ever did so I called and left a message with Flavia to have the office manager call me… it’s been over a week and still nothing. If you value your time don’t bother coming here.

Let me preface this by saying my father was formerly a patient at this office who currently has early stage 3 lung cancer. There are so many things I want to touch on I don’t even know where to begin. The one positive thing I will mention is that the office manager (Anne) and oncology nurse (Tina) are absolute angels and genuinely care about the wellness of their patients. I cannot speak on Dr Aly because we never saw him, just Dr Kim. Otherwise, the administrative staff could use some lessons on proper bedside manner. The second I sign my father in for an office visit, they hound on him for his co pay, which really upsets him and I get stuck hearing him complain about how unhappy he is with that, every single visit. Not to mention, whenever another family member has accompanied him on his office visit. They find Dr Kim to be very rude, hesitant to answer questions, and not very confident in her treatment plan, so naturally we went to seek a second opinion. His oncologist now caught him going into A-Fib, meanwhile we met with Dr Kim two days prior and said he was fine. He’s currently hospitalized for the weekend and his new oncologist advised us to no longer seek treatment at this practice because of how ineffective the chemotherapy and immunotherapy has been. He was first diagnosed as 2A and is now at a 3B. I wouldn’t advise people not to come here only because cancer is different for everybody. But if you decide to get treated here, please please PLEASE proceed with caution since quality cancer care on Staten Island is nonexistent and extremely hard to come by.

Dr. Aly is a great, caring doctor. His office staff is also very good and compassionate. The only somewhat negative I have is that sometimes there is a long wait in the office. Not a bad thing though because it shows he spends the time needed with patients

My husband had an appointment today with Yumi Kim MD as a new patient in Dr. Aly’s office, we were quite nervous to be seeing a new doctor to begin with! The office was extremely busy and the waiting room was packed, I thought for sure that we would be there all day! The office staff was very helpful and gave us the necessary paperwork to filll out. They explained that the doctor was in an emergency meeting and was running a bit behind schedule asking us to be patient. At that point I really thought this was going to be a long wait. I was very surprised that we were seen only 15 minutes later that our scheduled appointment. The medical assistant was kind enough to get me a chair so that I wouldn’t have to stand while she entered my husband’s medical history into the computer. She then sitted us in the exam room where we would see the doctor. Dr. Kim came in immediately and reviewed my husband’s medical history leading up to the current problem. She listened patiently and explained what course of action she recommended. She was very professional and made sure we completely understood what tests were needed and why. As a person who has been in the medical field for years I was very impressed with her and her staff. She arranged all the tests and bloodwork he needed before we left her office. While I hope that no one should every need to see an Oncologist, I highly recommend her.
