John Abroon, MD

Dr Abroon is a brilliant doctor that is also a very kind man. He is so smart and can get you to the best specialist in case you need them. Plus he has the nicest people working for him! I work in medicine and chose him to be the person that takes care of me.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Abroon for many years, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I was first introduced to him when I needed a doctor for a pre-operative appointment, and that visit ultimately led me to choose him as my primary physician. Unlike many medical practices today, Dr. Abroon truly makes time for his patients. Whether it’s a routine checkup or something more urgent, he is always willing to meet, listen, and talk through concerns. When you have an appointment with him, he never rushes you—he takes the time to understand what’s going on and provide thoughtful guidance. His referrals to specialists are consistently excellent, and it’s clear he has a deep knowledge of medicine across many areas. What stands out most is the practical, sound advice he gives—you always leave feeling confident that you’re in capable and caring hands. In a time when many doctors struggle to keep independent practices running, he feels like one of the last true examples of traditional, patient-focused general medicine. I’ve recommended him to many friends and family members over the years and continue to do so. When the day eventually comes that he retires or closes his practice, it will truly be the end of an era.

I saw Dr. Abroon for a pre-surgery clearance for a broken wrist on August 27th. He agreed to see me and billed me $450 directly, which I was told could be submitted to my insurance. I asked him to fill out a quick form that insurance requires for submission on 8/27, 9/11, 10/29, and 11/5. I called on 10/29 and spoke to someone who assured me I would get a callback the next day. On 11/17, I was informed my insurance was billed for the same visit. On 12/5, my referring doctor reached out to try and rectify and we received the following: "Dr. Abroon has submitted the charges to his biller. If the patient is owed a reimbursement after the submission of charges to insurance from the biller have been processed, Dr. Abroon will issue the reimbursement to the patient." I have since received an additional bill from Dr. Abroon, but I never received a valid receipt for my initial visit to submit to my insurance, nor have I received a callback. To summarize: he charged me $450 for a visit, billed my insurance $350 for that same visit, and is now asking me to cover the difference between what insurance paid him and his total fee. I have informed my insurance company that he double-billed this charge, and they are currently investigating. I am truly unsure why this doctor decided to overbill me. It is a real shame, and I hope potential new patients see this review—along with others mentioning similar billing issues—before deciding to use Dr. Abroon for care.

I have been a patient of Dr. Abroon for several years now. I make sure I come at least once a year for an annual physical. Dr. Abroon always takes the time to catch up and listens to my updates in both my current health status and my personal and work life. He will also talk straight to me, which I appreciate. I feel very fortunate to have had Dr. Abroon as my doctor, knowing that my health is looked after. The doctor’s staff are all friendly, courteous, and professional. I always enjoy catching up with Terri when I visit.

Dr. Abroon is a tremendous physician. His attention to the details of my health and his ideas of what I need to do to continue to be healthy are thoughtful and specific to my needs. He HEARS my issues and develops the best course of action to resolve them. In the 25 years I have been his patient, he has never steered me wrong!
