Marc Xavier Bowen, M.D.

I had an appointment with doctor Bowen recently and he was attentive during my appointment, explained everything in detail what is going on. He prescribed medications and advised to start using them as soon as possible. Front desk asked what pharmacy to submit the prescription. I went to the pharmacy next day but no prescription has been submitted by the office. I have called the office several times but no one picked up the phone. I also left a messages but no one called be back. I am not sure if I would go to this office again and would not recommend to anyone to deal with this. Finally, someone picked up the phone on the 3rd day and was not able to explain what is going on. Do not go to this place. Look for better office!

Pretty knowledgable Dr, but never use him if you ever want to change doctors or get life/disability insurance. I’ve called every day for over a month and still can’t get the proper documentation sent for insurance purposes. I’m lied to every day that it will be done today, but nothing is ever accomplished and I start all over the next day. I rarely complain about service (I’ve now waited over a month) but the total lack of service, lies, and incompetence to complete a basic task Drs are expected to complete is unacceptable. If you use Dr Bowen just know that it will be nearly impossible to ever get your medical records. If that isn’t a concern for you then he is a fine Dr from a pure practice ability.

Dr. Bowen is a great physician. He has been treating my asthma for the past 2 years. Once I found out I was expecting, Dr. Bowen advised the best plan to manage my asthma. He's a very thorough doctor. Definitely worth the wait time. Highly recommend seeing this doctor to get your asthma under control.

I have had very good experiences with Dr Bowan. He has stabilized my asthma and allergies, spoke to me kindly and explained things in detail. He definitely values people’s time and is straight and to the point. He is also caring, funny and thorough and is not an alarmist he does his best to identify the problems and offer solutions. For those who say he over prescribes I would say that his is definitely not a holistic practice, it is however a practice that is aimed at making people feel better quickly and for the long run. There was a period of time when he moved to the current office that it was somehow impossible to reach him, that was very aggravating and symptomatic of the offices administration rather then the doctor. This is a phenomena that I see more and more at my various doctors offices. It is unfortunate because it does have an overall effect on the experience with the doctor. I have recommended Dr Bowan to my family and friends and other then the former problems with the office itself I have had only good experiences with him.

I wouldn’t advise anyone to use this doctor or office. After several visits and waiting close to two hours to see Dr. Bowen each time, this is not a place that values your time. Because of my many long wait times, I was told by the receptionist that I should take the first appointment of the day so I wouldn’t have to wait- fast forward to today when I had the first appointment of the day, and the doctor arrives over 30 mins late, takes a patient before me, and after waiting over 90 minutes I am told by the receptionist she can’t give me “the slightest idea” how much longer I’d have to wait. And I’m not the only one- I’ve seen countless people at this office with me during my entire wait. Value your time- Dr. Bowen isn’t the only Pulmonologist in NYC!
