Alexander Goncharov, MD

I don't usually post reviews, but this experience was so awful and I feel like I deserve to voice what happened. This happened a few years ago. I've had a good experience over all at Pure OBGYN, and usually see another provider. I'm very busy and often put my reproductive issues on the back-burner because they're very stressful for me to face. I finally was able to come back in to address them, and was told at the desk that my provider called out and that I should have been notified that someone else was filling in. I hadn't gotten the memo, but no big deal, I just wanted to make progress with my reproductive issues in any shape or form. Alexander Goncharov was the fill-in doctor and he was terrible. He didn't listen to me at all, and performed a pap smear without telling me what he was doing. I'm unable to be sexually active DUE to my aforementioned health conditions, and given how much pain I have, the doctors and nurses there have all agreed it is best that I don't get one. I did tell him this when he asked when my last one was, but he didn't care, I guess, and like I said, started performing one without telling me that's what he was doing. I tried to grin and bear it, but involuntarily let out some screams of pain. I'm sure anyone who heard me in the waiting room ought to have felt really comforted by that.. haha. It was awful. I still tried to carry on with the appointment as if nothing was wrong, although I did have to wipe away some tears. He quipped, "I'm sure you'll never want to see another male doctor again..?" I just felt defeated. He still continued to not really address any of my concerns. He pushed for birth control despite me repeatedly declining it and it not really being relevant to my case, and also wrote me a script for an exploratory procedure to schedule with him? This doctor, who, without my consent, just put me through that awful experience, now expects me to trust him to be under anesthesia for something so sensitive that he couldn't even have a discussion with me about? I tried to keep advocating for myself and steer the conversation towards what I actually have going on and what I need, but that was pointless. He shrugged, sneered at me, and wrote some stuff in my chart while acting like he didn't believe that I had received diagnoses for what I was talking about from prior doctors. I went home feeling more defeated than ever, and like all my boundaries had been crossed. It was an awful feeling.

I don't like writing reviews but I decided to take the time out to write a review for Dr. Alexander Goncharov. He is an exceptional Doctor. I have been a patient of his for about four years. I'm very picky and hard to please so when I found this doctor I was beyond thrilled. He delivered my twins and when I tell you he gave us the best bedside care and made himself available to us around the clock. I absolutely love this doctor and even tho I moved from Brooklyn I still take the trip to go & see this doctor. I'm never leaving this practice. Please don't ever change the quality service

Dr. Goncharov did not address the concerns I came into his office for and called me "sensitive", "emotional", and suggested I see a therapist in regards to the serious physical issues I had. Feeling like a hysterical woman is my worst fear with a male provider, and Dr. Goncharov realized that. The appointment was timely, the rest of the staff was kind and helpful, and he was at least an accurate and straightforward doctor.

Very efficient office. Was in and out in under two hours which is a big deal considering it’s a OBGYN office and every other one I’ve been to has been a two hour wait at least. The doctor is very knowledgeable and told me things that other doctors never did. He spent time with me and made me very comfortable. I am very happy with this office and all of the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back.

If I could I would give him 25 stars! Best dr I ever met so far. He was my doctor while pregnant and I gave birth to a healthy and absolutely gorgeous baby. The doctor helped me a lot. The office it’s very clean and modern, the staff is very friendly.
