I had a really positive experience with both the hygienist and the dentist at this clinic. They were incredibly kind, professional, and attentive throughout my visit. The hygienist did a thorough job with my cleaning and made sure I was comfortable the entire time, while the dentist took the time to address all of my concerns clearly and respectfully. I truly felt well cared for and appreciated their level of professionalism and compassion. However, the one major issue I’ve experienced is with communication. It is very difficult to get in touch with the office by phone. Calls often go unanswered, and voicemails are not returned in a timely manner, if at all. This makes it extremely inconvenient when trying to schedule or reschedule appointments. It can be quite frustrating, especially when there’s no reliable way to communicate with the office. Overall, the clinical care is excellent, but improving communication and responsiveness would make the experience much better.

I had an extremely distressing experience at Your Smile Dental on Merrick Road. I came in with a referral from my primary dentist for wisdom tooth removal and was initially treated professionally by the front staff. However, once I was taken into the procedure room, the experience changed significantly. The surgeon did not speak directly to me or explain the procedure himself. I was not clearly informed ahead of time that no sedation options were available. When I expressed concern and anxiety about being awake for the extraction, I felt pressured to continue. During the procedure, I experienced severe pain and distress while fully awake. I was crying and physically reacting, and instead of pausing or reassessing pain management, I was told to be quiet because I was “scaring customers.” This was humiliating and deeply upsetting. After the procedure, I was sent home with gauze only and no pain medication, and I felt dismissed rather than supported. I left feeling traumatized, unheard, and shaken. I understand dental procedures can be uncomfortable, but patients deserve clear communication, informed consent, and compassion, especially when they are visibly distressed. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I hope this review encourages the practice to reconsider how they communicate with and support patients, particularly those with anxiety or undergoing invasive procedures.
