TLDR: Refusal to be seen without paying $25 my insurance stated I don't have to pay because the out of pocket max was met. 2.5 hrs passed before I decided to leave with no exam. Attitude from receptionist. When I arrived I went over to the front desk and was told the team for my department (MRI) was running behind schedule by 45 minutes. During that time I completed the paperwork and was told I had a $25 copay which I knew was not the case because I met my out of pocket max for the year. They insisted that regardless of whether I had met the out of pocket max I still had to pay the copay. I got in contact with my insurance and they confirmed what I had originally told the front desk. I go and speak with someone in the billing department and provide them with the reference number. They come back like 3 minutes later saying they spoke to their supervisor and I still have to cost the copay. Apparently they ran the reference number in some online system and nothing came up. I asked if they got in contact with the insurance representative I spoke to. They said no and insisted nothing came up. At this point it's been an hour and a half so I concede to pay the copay and request a reimbursement. I asked if I can get in writing their policy of still having to pay the copay. They say they're not able to put that in writing. I go pay and now I'm told that I missed my slot because of all the back and forth that took place and they don't officially check patients in till they've paid the copay. In other words they refuse service till you make that payment. The next available slot won't be for another hour. Not to mention the receptionist is giving me an attitude rolling her eyes at me as if I don't know my own insurance policy. After I'm finally brought inside I'm placed in another waiting area. About 20 minutes passed and still no word. Asked someone and they said another patient was in front and Id have to wait at least another 20 minutes. At that point I decided to leave and will NOT BE RETURNING. That's 2.5 hrs of just waiting. Straight bullshit all around.
