Doctor Harris and Doctor Koch are truly exceptional. After being involved in an automobile accident that caused my injuries, I went through several consultations with different doctors, but none of them felt right. That changed when I found Total Orthopedics. From the moment I walked in, everything felt different — the staff was warm, professional, and welcoming, and I immediately sensed I was in the right place. One thing that really set them apart was their thoroughness. When I scheduled my appointment, I was asked to bring my MRI imaging. On the day of my visit, the team had already pulled up my images before the doctor even entered the room. Both Dr. Koch and Dr. Harris personally reviewed my imaging in detail and walked me through exactly what was going on. They didn’t just tell me — they showed me that I had cervical spinal stenosis and explained how it directly correlated with my symptoms. That level of care and attention was something I had not experienced anywhere else. They initially took a conservative approach, recommending less invasive treatment first. When the epidural injection did not provide relief, they clearly explained why surgery was the next best step. I underwent a two-level ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) at their ambulatory surgical center in Syosset. The entire surgical experience exceeded my expectations. The facility was immaculate — it truly felt like a VIP hospital setting. Every staff member introduced themselves, explained their role, and made sure I felt comfortable and informed. My post-operative medications were even delivered ahead of time, which made the process so much smoother. On the day of surgery, everything was well-organized and efficient. After the procedure, I was closely monitored and given detailed aftercare instructions. I did experience some pain upon waking and an unexpected asthma episode due to the breathing tube, but the nursing staff responded immediately and took excellent care of me. I was able to go home the same day, and to my surprise and appreciation, Dr. Koch personally called me the very next day to check on my recovery. My healing process has gone better than expected, with minimal pain and discomfort. Another detail I truly appreciated was the attention to aesthetics — the doctors were very intentional in placing the incision along the natural creases of my neck, making the scar barely noticeable. They also provided helpful recommendations to further improve its appearance. Overall, I am incredibly grateful that I did not settle when choosing a surgeon. Finding Total Orthopedics and being under the care of Dr. Harris and Dr. Koch was the best decision I could have made. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of expert, compassionate care.
