I went here when I was 17, and I would strongly caution older teenage girls and young women with trauma about seeing Freya Yang specifically. In my experience, she was not equipped to handle trauma related to sexual abuse or domestic violence, and my time in therapy with her left me feeling significantly worse. I also felt uncomfortable with the way conversations around pronouns and sexuality were handled. I was repeatedly questioned about my pronouns and sexuality in ways that felt intrusive rather than supportive, to the point where I did not feel safe opening up about being trans. A therapist’s office should feel like a place where LGBTQ+ youth including people who are questioning, cisgender, transgender, straight, or gay are allowed to exist comfortably without pressure or assumptions. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
