Very sad to be writing this because my first experience at this dentist was great, the dentist herself was very kind, they filled a chip in my tooth that insurance completely covered, they were very honest about my wisdom teeth. About 8 months later I went back, this time with a different dentist, I believe the one I’d had prior had moved practices, and I had a whole different experience, it feels as if this place was maybe bought up by a PE shop and had some major changes in pricing/insurance handling. After being referred to a horrific oral surgeon by them at my first visit, at my second visit they said “don’t worry, we have an in house surgeon now, we can do it here.” I was excited because my first experience had been so positive. lol. They sent me all the way to another building to get my panoramic X-rays which were $200. They then called me to tell me the pricing 2 days later. Absolutely outrageous, think they quoted me $2,000 per tooth with my coverage and that anesthesia was completely out of pocket and several thousand dollars, and that I would have to pay everything up front and be reimbursed by insurance after. They also tried to pressure me to book an appointment WITH a down payment, something I have never had to do, saying they only had a handful of appointments left through the year and to “hurry they go fast” like they were car salesmen. Long story short just went to another oral surgeon who told me they obviously weren’t checking with insurance because my insurance takes about two weeks to process pricing, not two days, and that he’s never heard a quote that high even for people with extremely low coverage. He also had so many dental appointments available and did not pressure me at all. Please don’t go to this place, they will wring you dry. UPDATE: ended up getting my procedure done at Greenwich village oral surgery with doctor leo Paige. An excellent and cost effective experience, highly recommend !
