Kristin
I have Drs. Verter and Katz Sand and NP Stacie (Zooey Deschanel's doppelhanger) and there is Christine, an admin coordinator who I swear is powered by google bc she responds so fast and efficiently and does so much, there is a wellness team including Jessica the nutritionist who is non-judgemental and gives solid practical advice and taught me about nutpods, and people behind the scenes who coordinate your medical infusion care etc. There are more people I'm forgetting to mentoin because if i don't deal with them often I forget their names, my bad. it's baffling to me, if i ever have a problem they are SO responsive and they care, you can tell, it is like you have your own personal advocate team behind you, proactively looking out for your well-being. you feel like you must be their only patient bc they devote time and attention to you, but of course you know they must have many patients. Dr. Katz Sand also does research, which was important to me, because so much of MS is still a mystery and I wanted someone who wasn't kind of stuck in the past. She and Dr. Verter have taught me about symptoms and I like that you don't always have to traipse all the way in person, you can usually meet them (and the rest of the time) by video which saved a ton of time. And i never cared about or even thought about gender of practiioners before, but after repeated experiences with this team, it dawned on me that the whole team I interact with is all women, and I think that's really cool, (although the practice does have men and i love men too!) - they get things done, fast, and are compassionate and efficient. They give me common sense, practical advice of what i need to do next so i dont feel lost. I've never felt as on top of managing MS and less lost when it comes to MS as i do now. Physical self care is generally not top of mind for me, but having a regularly schduled call with Jessica the nutirtionist is great bc simply knowing im going to talk to her makes me think about food more. Stacie reminded me to go to other kinds of doctor appts and because of that, I found out I had some serious things going on (will be resolved soon though!) - so she saved me from far deeper trouble down the line. Because of her reminding me, everything was caught early. If there is an emergency weird symptom popping up theyve video chatted me or squeezed me for in-person visit fast. i just had mris last night and Drs looked over them and Stacie called me the next morning with results. I suspect your experience with this practice will depend a lot on which doctor you go to. I can only speak to my experience with this team. I also bet a lot of people don't write reviews because not everyone wants it out there that they have MS. Anyway I've been very happy here. And I like Mt. Sinai mychart because you can integrate it with nyu, columbia etc. so people at each respective system can easily access your test results etc. Best of luck to you on your journey. If you don't like your doctor, keep hunting until you find one you like, don't be too shy to advocate for yourself.
