Had my baby here. It was a horrible and traumatizing experience. Labor and delivery went ok. But after? I was there for 5 days. Rarely saw the same doctor/RN/CNA more than once. Doctors don't communicate with each other. I was judged harshly and my daughter and I were mistreated. The lack of education or experience with my situation led to unnecessary interactions- lots of poking and prodding, a lot of contradicting advice and commentary. The was ONE nurse who was kind to me, I forget her name but she was the only one there who treated me like a human being. Then there was the extreme opposite- another nurse (picture of name attached) who was purposely rough with me when drawing my blood, giving me insulin, who had no consideration and took her frustration out on us. When it was time to be discharged one of the doctors on my daughters teams was having a mental breakdown. She was crying about how she can't do this and just wants to go home. I assume she was an intern or a resident- we felt bad for her but it made us extremely uncomfortable. There were so many incidents and so much to say but I wrote the most extreme. I never want to give birth at a teaching hospital again, I don't want anything to do with Montefiore. What should've been a wonderful first experience turned into something traumatic and kick-started my postpartum depression. I will remember my experience here for the rest of my life. Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice but to go to this one instead of the midwifery one because I was high risk. If you see this and had a good experience I'm jealous of you. But if you're a new mom and never gave birth before I highly recommend you find an OBGYN with a a NYC hospital or a different private hospital. Go to a different city or county. Anything but here.
