I had a terrible experience with my vision, I had retinal tears. It all started with my right eye and soon after my left eye, very scary situation, but thankfully I was referred to Dr. Michael Nissen, whom is the BEST RETINA SPECIALIST IN NYC. When I went to his office for the first time I was very nervous, but that all ended as I sat in the waiting room. His staff were very accommodating and compassionate. What caught my attention about Dr. Nissen was the passion he has for his art, and may I add his attention and care for each and every one of his Patients. He exemplifies what total patient care should be across the board. He is very detailed in explaining the prognosis and procedures needed to make things better. Dr. Nissen listened to me as I expressed my concerns (which were, when would I be able to work again). His positive energy and enthusiasm were instrumental to my recovery. Carla, Teresa and Joe made this whole experience a better one as well! This group is awesome! I continue going for my follow ups.. Eternally thankful for their GREAT service.

Recently, I required urgent surgery to repair a detached retina. My husband immediately researched the top retina specialists in Manhattan and was fortunate to arrange an appointment with Dr. Michael Nissen. We met him ‪at 8AM‬, was diagnosed and had surgery the same day ‪at ‬4PM. To assess Dr. Nissen’s approach and competency as impressive would be to understate the excellent care I received from the doctor, his assistant and staff. I was treated courteously, professionally and, as was needed, swiftly. Since then, I have been back three times for follow-ups. My husband was so impressed with how my appointment time was respected and met by a wonderful and gracious front desk and how Dr. Nissen was caring and direct in his examinations and instructions. Thank you, Doctor. My husband could not have made a better choice to place my care in your hands.
