I have been a patient for over 20 years with a condition that needs monitoring. When do you know a doctor who accommodates your requests for an appointment within a week? She always does. And shows up on time. That's a gift in NYC. But here is the real reason I give her 5 stars. My partner had a sudden facial reaction that looked like nerve damage or or. I called her office at close to closing time and her partner said come over now. She examined and advised where to go - we didn't know if it was an emergency. She did. And it was. Where do you get that response? Rarely.

A minus Star. Prospective & current patients be aware. I've been under the care of Dr. Buscemi for several years. I have adult Inflammatory Cystic Acne that requires cortisone shots often, very often. I live near her office & with her permission, the staff accommodated me on a dime to inject & reduce them & if possible, drain the painful cysts. She always told me the sooner they're injected, the better. Suddenly at my last appointment about a month ago, she had a melt down.The moment she came in to the exam room & I said hi, how are you, she said "not good" & began complaining about her staff & "no matter how hard she tries, she's not getting it right & that she felt like quitting". Quitting? This is her practice that she owns. I did not mishear or misunderstand. I don't know what the "it" was that she couldn't get right. She then injected my cysts & extracted several whiteheads. After that, she complained that she should be doing surgery & not spending time with acne extractions & injections. Dr. Buscemi then advised that I go to an aesthetician. I was shocked. It took several minutes for me to absorb that. I said I don't think an aesthetician could inject cortisone. She nodded her head in agreement & said nothing else & just silently walked out of the exam room. An AESTHETICIAN? Glorified facialists with fragrant white steamy scented towels infecting my acne cysts by squeezing them out & then massaging in moisturizers followed by their sales pitch to sell me products for my Inflammatory Cystic Acne?! Huh? I don't think so! She's supposed to be a board certified dermatologist? She's not a surgeon nor does she even do Moh's "surgery" or have up-to-date appropriate dermatologic lasers. It took a month for me to wrap my head around this experience. In all the time I was under her care, not once did she do a blood test to see if there was a medical underlying reason for my sudden & unforgiving acne that I never experienced when I was younger! No wonder I never improved. I now feel she is unqualified, plain disinterested or both. My advice is to stay far away from that office. Do not think you can trust this Doctor. In my opinion, I think she's right about one thing. She should quit. She should do us all a favor & sell her practice & stay away from practicing medicine. I now question myself. Why didn't I go for a 2nd opinion? I'm obviously a dope because I liked her. Find a Board Certified Dermatologist that still enjoys their work AND ISN'T BURNED OUT! This was my experience & is my opinion. By the way, the front desk turnover is incredible.
