My wife had an appointment with Dr. Thomas Izquierdo's office at 9:30 AM as a new patient. She arrived on time, only to discover that the office did not even open until 10:00 AM. This showed a complete lack of respect for patients' time. What makes the situation even worse is that when the appointment was scheduled, the office collected all of her information, including the name of her health insurance plan. My wife had to take time off work, lose income, spend money on transportation, and rearrange her schedule to attend this appointment. After waiting to be seen, she was simply told that the office does not accept her insurance and that the person who scheduled the appointment had made a mistake. This is something that should have been verified before the appointment was ever confirmed. Instead, the burden of their mistake was placed on the patient. There was no meaningful apology, no attempt to help, and no consideration for the inconvenience they caused. While we were there, we also witnessed another troubling interaction. An elderly patient was spoken to in a loud and disrespectful manner by the receptionist, who said, "Ma'am, the office called you three times." The woman, visibly embarrassed, apologized and explained that she does not hear well. Rather than showing patience and compassion toward an elderly patient, the staff made her feel uncomfortable. Everyone makes mistakes, but professionalism is measured by how those mistakes are handled and how patients are treated. Based on what we experienced and witnessed, this office appears poorly organized and lacking in the empathy, courtesy, and respect that patients deserve. I would not recommend this office to anyone expecting professional and compassionate care.
