JULIAN
I began Orientation & Mobility (O&M) services on February 19, 2026 after multiple follow-ups in late January and early February. A referral was sent January 21 and I received a response on February 12. My experience was mixed. The instructor provided a properly sized cane with a ball tip and showed a helpful technique for navigating driveways, which I appreciated. However, parts of the interaction felt uncomfortable to me. I was asked questions about my medical history and medications, and there were comments about my pain management that I did not expect in this setting. When I arrived early, I was also asked how I knew the instructor was there and whether I had cameras, which I found confusing. When I shared concerns about difficulty traveling at night and asked about training, I felt discouraged. I was told I appeared to be managing in public and that training would not take place at night, which did not align with my needs. I also experienced delays with follow-up. When I inquired about Vision Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) services, I did not receive a response until mid-March, and the outreach came from an intern. Overall, while there were some helpful elements, I left feeling that my concerns were not fully addressed. I have had positive experiences with other providers at this organization in the eye clinic, which made this feel inconsistent with my experiences before.
