I underwent a right wrist arthroscopy with triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) debridement, endoscopic carpal tunnel release, and possible synovectomy at this facility on April 28, and while the surgical outcome appears to be successful, my overall experience was average (3 stars). The staff were generally polite and professional. My surgeon, Dr. Rebecca Nicholas, checked on me before the procedure, which I appreciated. The intake nurse was also kind and reassuring. I also interacted with two anesthesiology providers prior to the procedure. The initial discussion suggested sedation, while a second provider later explained that I would be under general anesthesia. While both were professional, clearer and more consistent communication regarding the anesthesia plan would have been helpful. However, the wait time was much longer than expected. I arrived at 9:30 AM for a 10:15 AM schedule but was not taken in until around 1:18 PM. This was difficult, especially while fasting. After the procedure under general anesthesia, I experienced discomfort, dizziness, nausea, and throat pain. While this can be expected, I felt the discharge process was rushed. I did not feel fully stable when I was being encouraged to get dressed and leave. There was one staff member whose approach felt rushed during recovery, which added to my discomfort. As someone who works in healthcare, I understand the need for efficiency, but patient readiness for discharge is very important—especially after anesthesia. After I got home, I experienced significant nausea and vomiting, which reinforced my concern that I may have been discharged prematurely. Overall, while the medical care itself was good, there is room for improvement in wait time management, communication, and post-operative care. A more patient-centered discharge process would make a meaningful difference.
