TLDR: Fixed daughters ACL---Great Surgeon
So far could not be more grateful for Dr. Cordasco, his team, and the Hospital of Special Surgery. Im not sure what happened that some reviews say they did not care for his bedside manner but I thought he was extremely caring for my daughter. He spoke with us before the surgery and told us what to expect. When he left the room I said to my daughter, "wow, what a knee nerd." This guy knows more about knees and the history of and future of knees than I ever knew could possibly exist. I dont think Ive ever been interested or been informed about anything in my life as much as this guy knows about the human knee joint. He repaired her acl and so far at 4 days post op shes doing great. He does not sugar coat anything and lets you know exactly what happened, what he plans to do, and how it all went after the surgery. While in the waiting room after the surgery, he came out personally, found us, explained everything and then called us later that night to see how everything was going. The lady next to us in the waiting room asked about their Dr, didn't catch the name, and they were told oh no, your dr will call you, he doesnt come out to speak to you. Gotta give it up to Dr Cordasco for 1 upping that guy. Hospital of Special Surgery is rated the best Orthopedic hospital for a reason. Everything on schedule. Not exaggerating, I compared the employees to the employees at Disney. I dont mean that theyre characters, I mean that Everyone there treats you like they would treat their family, the family they like of course, and they all conduct themselves like they actually love their job. I would like to finish up the review with Dr. Cordasco's team in his Office. Answers every question, returns every call or email, could not be more helpful. When they wheeled her in for surgery, the PA came out to speak to us about the follow up meds. He said theres a pharmacy around the block that is well stocked if we wanted to get the meds before we went home. We said we have a CVS around the corner from us at home. He said, just do me a favor, I'll send them the scripts but call them and see if they have everything in stock because its 7 scripts. Sure enough they were not able to fill 3 of the scripts, so definitely not the PA's first rodeo. He pulled the scripts back, sent them around the block and we went and picked them up while she was in surgery. Saved us a huge argument and time driving around once we got home.
This was the worst injury in my daughters life and some of the worst stress ever as a parent, for them it was just a Tuesday. When you are nervous and anxious but they are nothing but caring and calm, it lets you know they know what theyre doing through their actions, and that is something that I cannot thank them enough for.
It's not all rainbows.......Manhattan blows. Traffic and the city in general I could defiantly do without but thats where they are located and the positives are exponentially greater than the negatives. Food at the supermarket around the block was pretty good. When your daughters health and future is at stake, do not choose convenience over excellence.
