Eastside Oral Surgery

If I could give this place no stars I would. Adam Brisman has horrible bedside manners. It’s been many months since I’ve gone to get a consultation for a horrible pain in my wisdom tooth area thinking it may needed to be extracted or something else was going on. I was in absolute dreadful pain where half of my face was on fire and existing alone was so painful. Opening my mouth was hard and eating/talking was an obstacle to get through. When I went to visit, my partner went with me because I was absolutely afraid of finding out what was wrong. With this in mind reception folks were fine. The receptionist was professional but very busy handling calls and making appointments/taking folks in. I had to wait about 25-30 mins to be called in which was also fine. But when I got in that patient chair, Brisman walked in with a very condescending attitude. Barely speaking to me, he kept talking to my partner about what was wrong and barely addressed me despite me being the one in the patient chair. He even made a few jokes to my partner, in my face, in regard to me being too tender and scared because I was in so much pain and was at the brink of tears. Neither of us found it funny or entertaining. Barely taking a look in my mouth and handling my face too firm despite knowing how tender I was, he immediately said I needed to extract that tooth and to make an appointment for an extraction but that I needed to let him actually work on the tooth when I come in. Feeling very disappointed, humiliated and disrespected I went to get a second opinion. And when I was seen by the other oral surgeon they handled me with patience, care and honor. They eased me through my anxiety and saw my problem area without it hurting the way it did when Brisman handled me. Turns out it had nothing to do with the tooth itself and that I didn’t need an extraction after all. I was experiencing pain in the same area due to a completely non tooth related reason. To which they treated and I was better in days. Never again will I trust this oral surgeon. He tried scamming me for an extraction and I’m so vexed about it still that I couldn’t leave it alone after many months and needed to share my experience for others to stay away.

Customer service, especially in a dental office, should remain calm, respectful, and professional regardless of the situation. The interaction left a very uncomfortable impression. Extremely unprofessional experience with the receptionist Shantel over the phone, Mind you I haven’t even gone to the place yet. I was calling to find out information about a tooth extraction and if they use general anesthesia. I explained I already have CT scans from the ER. She said we don’t work like that over here. You have to make an appointment the doctor will take x rays Tell you what you need done and then we send it to the insurance and wait for approval. I understand every business has their own policies & the specific procedure I want done might need approval from my insurance I also know they accept my insurance because I got the information from the network of dentist that work with my insurance. I am aware that missing an appointment can be frustrating for a business, and I was willing to reschedule respectfully, but the way I was spoken to was completely unnecessary with an aggressive tone. Instead of handling the situation professionally, it felt personal and emotional, almost like I had offended her on a personal level rather than of the situation. It felt Like if we had a date and I stood her up. I’m just confused on why Shantel took it so personally speaking in a aggressive tone telling me well you have to call and let me know your not coming I called you yesterday left you a voicemail and you didn’t answer your phone. My reply was my apologies I didn’t do it on purpose my phone had died on me while I was working and I still end up going to the place and it was closed. Her response was well you should had called us to let us know you weren’t coming the doctor had to leave we can’t wait on you. I guess she missed the part when I said my phone died on me while I was at work and that I still went to the location and it was closed. Lol I understand they can’t wait on me and I wouldn’t want them to but I felt like she could had definitely handled the situation more professionally. The receptionist’s behavior came across as so rude and unprofessional that it made me question the professionalism of the office as a whole, It reflects poorly on the overall atmosphere and standards of the business. Based on the reviews online, there appears to be a pattern of poor bedside manner and unprofessional communication.
