I had a very disappointing experience at Cohen Gentle Dental on White Plains Road. About 2 months ago I was told directly by Dr. Cohen to return for a 6-week follow-up appointment, which his own office then scheduled. However, when I arrived, no one seemed to know why I was there. I was asked three separate times by three different staff members what my appointment was for. When I finally saw Dr. Cohen, he himself asked me why I was there — despite being the one who instructed me to return. He then rudely walked out of the room, stating that he does not perform that procedure. I was told the dentist who actually performs the procedure only comes in on Wednesdays, even though the office scheduled me for that day. I was rescheduled, but when I returned, the same confusion occurred again, with staff once again having no idea what I was there for. No dentist ever examined me to confirm whether I was even scheduled for the correct procedure or to advise whether it was necessary that day or at another time. I was provided with absolutely no information or professional guidance. While waiting in the treatment room, I was suddenly told I would need to pay $500 for the procedure, with no prior discussion. I would have gladly paid this amount had I been informed ahead of time during my previous visit, instead of being surprised with the cost while already waiting. On top of all of this, I never actually received treatment or met with the appropriate dentist. Given the level of disorganization, poor communication, and lack of professionalism I experienced, it makes the positive reviews this office has very hard to believe. Patients should not have to explain their own appointments, be dismissed rudely, or be caught off guard by unexpected charges. I would not recommend this office to anyone seeking competent or trustworthy dental care.
