B0NY HAWK
I remember being 16 and being sent here in 2004. I learned very quickly that there job was to break us down and build us back up. I was sent to Millbrook after 30 days in Rhinebeck. My first day there Phyllis Miller tore into me and humiliated me. I ran away from this place 3 different times in my 12 month stay there. They had you scrubbing the sun off the floor and would put you in front of the whole family and humiliate you. I’ve sat on a chair and faced the wall for days numerous times. I’ve been “shot down” numerous times. Chris Ratel was another person who just wasn’t cut out for being a counselor. I am 38 now and I see why that program never worked. The only good thing about this program was Santo Sardenga who was my counselor. I actually lived his life once I left Daytop because I picked up H for the first time and battled it for 20 years. But overall their whole approach on drug addiction and behavioral issues were so out of touch on how you really should approach the issue. I actually miss my fellow peers and wonder what ever happened to half of them but yeah Daytop was crazy.
