Our experience with MIMA was disappointing. Communication was inconsistent and slow. I had to send several emails before receiving a reply — sometimes waiting a couple of days — and responses only seemed to come when it was convenient for them. For example, when I asked to see the lease, they answered right away, but when I asked about parking, concessions, or whether the unit qualified for the $2,500 credit they were offering, those questions were completely ignored. They only responded when it seemed to fit their priorities. We were told that the current tenant would be moving out and that we would be able to see the apartment empty, but that didn’t happen. I was told that they would only start cleaning and preparing the apartment after we committed to renting it. I found that very unreasonable — we were already approved for the unit, but I don’t think anyone should have to commit to a place without first seeing it properly emptied and cleaned. I don’t know if this experience was different because it was a lease-break situation, or if they treat people differently depending on their level of interest. It also seemed that there was only one person handling everything in the leasing office — I’m not sure if she needed more help or was simply overwhelmed . Overall, the lack of responsiveness, selective communication, and the expectation to commit before seeing the apartment ready made it impossible to feel confident moving forward, so we decided not to proceed
