Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation is a place we call home for my father. Alice was my first contact with Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. When my father was ready to be discharged from South Brooklyn Health Hospital in November, I was given a list of rehabilitation centers to be considered. I looked at the list and I told the hospital social worker I needed to talk to someone at Bensonhurst Center for Rehab to ask some questions. Alice called me right away and answered all my questions. Through my very first phone conversation with Alice, I truly felt she was kind, sincere and trust worthy. She was the reason we chose Bensonhurst Rehab Center for my father. When we arrived at the facility, we were welcomed by the concierge team member Eric. He came to the room to introduce himself and gave us his contact information and let us know if we have any questions or concerns please call him or his other team members. His team members' contact information was also shared with us. We met Yvonne, one of his team members, who is also so kind and friendly! She provided lots of assistance to my mom (who stays at my father’s bedside) with translating and communicating with nurses and other staff. Eric, Yvonne, and/or his other team members do a daily routine check with patients to ensure their needs are met and their questions or concerns are heard and addressed promptly. It was because of their work that the patients wanted to stay at the Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation. Of course, I won’t forget the doctors, nurses, PT, OT, Speech Therapist, and CNAs who are doing the actual work of caring for the patients! They are extremely important because the lives of the patients are in their hands. I have great respect for all of their hard work! Without their service, my father wouldn’t have recovered this much: from right arm not moving to starting moving now! I would like to thank Kenny Chen (Dr. Chen) who follows up regularly with my father’s care. He really cares about his patients. When we have a question, he is always available to answer. When we need him, he always comes by. Through the experience of his care with my father, we truly felt that he is very responsible for his patients! I would also like to give a big thanks to Nurse G (Guiseppe). He is the head nurse who I contact regularly regarding my father’s care and clinic appointments. He is always calm, caring, and very responsible for his work. I would also like to thank the nurse director, when problems arrived (which we have experienced), that the problems were taken care of promptly and fixed right away. I would also like to thank Nurse Kast (I don’t know his full name). He provides daily care to my father when he is here, giving medications, changing head dressings, and now tube dressings. I would also like to thank all the other nurses too who also service my father but I don’t know their names. Thanks to the Night Nurse Michelle too. When I call her name “Michelle” from the window of the Nursing Station, she always answers “Yes?” and looks up at me and listens to me. One of the CNAs that I would really like to thank is Jesse (I hope I spelled her name correctly). She is always smiling and caring and makes us feel welcome. It’s all of these people mentioned above who make us feel Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation is a place like home! If any of my friends or relatives who need rehabilitation, I would tell them, call Alice! My biggest thanks goes to Alice for being my first contact for Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation!
